Bhokan imports GitHub Projects (V2) — the project boards attached to a user or an organisation. Issues, pull requests and draft issues on the project all come across as cards.

Connecting GitHub

GitHub connects with a personal access token rather than an OAuth app, so there is nothing to set up beyond the token itself.
  1. Create a token on GitHub Go to Settings → Developer settings → Personal access tokens on GitHub and create a classic token with the read:project scope. Add read:org as well if you want to import projects owned by an organisation.
  2. Add it to Bhokan Go to Settings → Integrations, paste the token into the GitHub field and click Connect GitHub.
  3. Verify the connection The section should now read Your GitHub account is connected and offer a Disconnect GitHub button.
The token is encrypted before it is stored, and it belongs to your user account rather than to a workspace — one token serves every workspace you are a member of.

Importing your projects

  1. Start the import Go to Boards and click Import. Choose GitHub and click Select source.
  2. Pick the projects Your own projects and those of your organisations are listed together. Select the ones you want.
  3. Import Click Import boards. Each project becomes a board in the current workspace.

What comes across

Cards land in the list matching their Status, and carry the label matching their Area. Both have a fallback, so nothing is dropped for want of a field:
  • An item with no Status, or one that matches no option, goes into the first list on the board.
  • A project with no Status field at all gets a single list named To Do, and every card lands there.
  • An item with no title imports as Untitled Card.

Limits

  • Up to 100 items are read per project. Larger projects import their first 100 items.
  • Project discovery covers your own first 20 projects, and the first 10 projects of each of your first 10 organisations.
  • Assignees, comments, custom fields other than Status and Area, and item ordering within a status are not imported.
GitHub import is a plan capability. If your workspace’s plan does not include it, the option is refused with a message saying so.
