Any tool that exports a spreadsheet can feed Bhokan. There is nothing to connect and no account to authorise — you pick a file, say what its columns mean, and check the result before anything is created.

Importing a CSV file

  1. Start the import Go to Boards and click Import. Choose CSV file and click Select source.
  2. Choose a file (step 1 of 3) Pick a .csv file with a header row. The file is read in your browser — nothing is uploaded until you confirm the import.
  3. Map columns (step 2 of 3) Each column is matched to a Bhokan field. Recognisable headers are mapped for you; set the rest by hand, or mark a column Skip this column. Only Title is required — the Import button stays disabled until it is assigned.
  4. Review (step 3 of 3) You get the exact counts that will be created — cards, lists, labels and checklist items — plus any rows that will be skipped and why. Nothing is created until you click through this step.

Fields you can map

Headers are matched loosely, so a clean export usually needs no manual mapping at all — Task name, Summary and Subject all find Title; Status, Column and Stage all find List; Deadline and Due on find Due date.

How values are read

Multiple labels — separate with a pipe or a line break, or with commas if the cell contains neither:
Checklist items — separate with a pipe or a line break. Commas never split an item, because task text contains commas far more often than pipes. Prefix an item to mark it already done:
[x], [X], ✓, ✔ and ☑ all mean completed, with or without a leading -. Due dates — ISO dates (2026-08-29, with an optional time) always work. For numeric dates like 03/04/2026, Bhokan reads the whole column to work out whether it is day-first or month-first, rather than guessing per row. Anything it cannot read with certainty is reported on the review step: the card is still created, just without a due date. Assignees — matched against both addresses a member can be reached on, the one they were invited with and the one on their account. Addresses that match nobody are listed after the import, and those cards are left unassigned.

Limits

CSV import is a plan capability, and plans can cap rows per import below the 2,000 ceiling. When a sheet is over the limit, the import is refused and tells you what the limit is.
Every import creates new boards. Importing a file twice gives you two boards with the same name rather than merging into the first, so a re-run after a mistake means deleting the board the first run made.
